Having experienced sustained single digit temperatures (coupled with the accumulation of snow and ice) throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area last February we are now seeing that a number of plant varieties, including some tree types, have suffered damage that we haven’t experienced in 30+ years. A few of the most common plants that are so far revealing damage include but are not limited to Indian Hawthorn, Loropetalum, Wax Myrtle, Pittosporum, Ligustrum, Asian Jasmine and Palms. Live Oaks and Crape Myrtles may also be affected to some extent, but be aware that because a plant may currently have brown leaves does not necessarily mean that it has died, as the next few weeks will be very revealing as temperatures continue to rise. For now, it is really a wait and see situation to assess the full impact. Click Full Story for more information.
