Being A Responsible Pet Owner

Greetings! Did you know? Dog owners are required to keep their dogs on a leash any time the dog is outside of your home or fenced in yard. Not only do the HOA’s deed restrictions have a leash rule, but it is the law in the City of Frisco. Even if your pet is very well trained and very friendly, it still must be on a leash. Not everyone you encounter in the neighborhood is comfortable with any type of dog, whether it is on a leash or not. Some dog owners are wary of other people’s dogs. They may feel threatened physically by a barking dog, an overly-friendly dog that jumps up on people or a dog that appears to be aggressive. Others have no way of knowing if your dog is friendly or not. And not all dogs are friendly to each other! Keeping your dog on a leash ensures a measure of control for all involved.

If you know an owner whose dog is not on a leash and you know the owner’s name and/or address, please notify Frisco’s Animal Services at 972-292-5303. Animal Services can also address issues such as excessive barking and stray animals. You will need to provide the location, specifics of your concern and daytime contact information along with the owner’s name and/or address.

If you are an owner who is leasing your townhome, it is your responsibility to notify the tenants of this issue.
